Welcome to Mrs. Yoder's Kitchen, a charming buffet restaurant located at 8101 OH-241, Mt Hope, OH 44660. Here, the heart of Amish cooking comes alive, serving up hearty, homestyle meals that evoke nostalgia and comfort. With a reputation built on wholesome ingredients and home-cooked flavors, Mrs. Yoder's has become a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike.
As you step inside, you’re greeted by an ambiance reminiscent of a warm, inviting family home. The decor might be simple, akin to your grandmother's kitchen, but the focus here is unmistakably on the food. It may not boast the largest buffet selection, but every dish is a testament to quality and care. The fried chicken emerges as a standout, crispy on the outside and juicy within—an experience that many reviewers, like John Irwin and Zach Boggs, rave about. Equally tantalizing are the sweet yet savory baby back ribs and the creamy macaroni and cheese that holds its own against the competition.
A visit to Mrs. Yoder's is not complete without indulging in their fresh salad bar, brimming with vibrant, seasonal greens. While customers have noted some of the salads lean towards the sweeter side, they add a delightful contrast to the savory flavors found throughout the meal. Moreover, diners can feel good about their choice of value; many patrons, including Bobby Lyte, have praised the reasonable pricing paired with complimentary drinks, enhancing the overall experience.
Accessibility is also a priority at Mrs. Yoder's, with thoughtful considerations for all guests, ensuring an enjoyable visit regardless of mobility. Even when the restaurant fills up quickly—often leading to a short wait—everyone agrees the food is well worth it. As Tim Polk notes, the efficient staff keeps the service flowing smoothly, making your experience as hassle-free as possible.
In a world where upscale dining often overshadows the joys of home cooking, Mrs. Yoder's Kitchen stands out as a true gem. Whether you're a longtime fan or a first-timer, this restaurant promises comfort food at its finest, all in a setting that feels just like home. Highly recommended for anyone savoring a taste of authentic Amish hospitality!
Chicken tenders, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo on a diamond jim bun
Marinated, charbroiled to perfection, 8 oz.
Wonderful home cooked Amish food and very reasonably priced. Drinks are included whether you get the buffet or meal. There are not a lot of options for the favorites were there and delicious. There was a wait but it was very short. Easy accessibility for my walker. We will be back again when we stay in the area.
Love this place. Plenty of parking, excellent food, lots of people working. Highly recommended.
Great homestyle (comfort) food. The fried chicken is supper juicy. The baby back ribs are a bit on the sweet side bit quite good. All the sides are as expected. Salads are good as well, but again, on the sweet side. Deserts are not included.
Mrs. Yoder's may not be the biggest buffet in the area, but I can say everything on the buffet is good. There is not one item that we tried and did not like. It is by no means a fancy place it looks like your grandma's house. But in the amish country that's kind of what you want. It's simple home cooking at its best. I will say the fried chicken here is leaps and bounds better than other buffets in the area. The place is small and fills up fast, so do not be surprised if there is a wait for a table. It also has a small parking lot out front. This restaurant is by no means meant to attract tourists but more should probably visit it. It is worth trying while in the area. The buffet here is also cheaper than the other buffets nearby.
Awesome Amish buffet. Not the largest selection, but probably the best I've had. Fried chicken, meatloaf, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes were all fantastic, along with everything else. The salad bar offered a good selection and everything was very fresh. There were a lot of people waiting inside and outside to be seated, but we were still seated in about 10 minutes. Well worth the hour trip, and will definitely be back.
Oh my gosh! Well worth the hour detour! You gotta go! The chicken is deliciousness you will never forget! The scenery is beautiful too. Was a much needed drive in the country. We will be back. :)
This restaurant holds a special place in my heart. Best chicken in Ohio. And their desserts?! Absolutely amazing. They pour so much love in their whole restaurant. PLEASE VISIT! All of the staff I've met are super friendly and caring. I've been going when I can since I was a kid.
This was a really good place to eat if you're in Amish country. The buffet and salad bar had the right amount of stuff, and it was all very good. Our server was very nice and helpful. The peanut butter cream pie was huge and excellent! We would go back.
